"Reserve a Room" Reservation Form

at the Sanderson Community Center of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Priority Use

Use by Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing Organizations: The facility was built to be used as a community center for the use of Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing individuals. The majority of people in attendance from an organization must be Deaf, DeafBlind or Hard of Hearing or the purpose of the meeting should relate to serving Deaf, DeafBlind or Hard of Hearing individuals. Reservations may be made 4 months in advance.

Hearing Groups: Hearing groups are allowed to use this facility when it is not being used by Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing consumers, state agencies, or disability-related organizations. Hearing groups may make reservations 4 months in advance.

We require any person using our facilities to follow the local health department policy regarding food service. (Local Health Department Policy on Food)

For DSDHH sponsored activities (such as the annual bazaar) where individuals are allowed to sell items, any organization or individual selling food that is prepared onsite must obtain a temporary event food permit from the county.

Any individual serving or preparing food onsite to be consumed by others must possess proper food handling permits. Serving food that is pre-packaged commercially or offsite does not require a food handler permit. Examples include pre-wrapped candies, food in bags prepared at home and brought to the facility, etc.

Note: Food and drinks are not allowed in the Lecture Hall.

We strongly encourage you to upload a flyer or picture related to your reservation. It will make your reservation easier to locate on the public calendar.

The date of your requested reservation is in 6 days or less. The section titled "Reserve Early" at the top of this form states "Please make your reservation at least one week in advance. If less than one week we may not be able to accommodate your request for a reservation or technology."

If you do not get an email from us at least 24 hours before your requested reservation date, please call us at 801-657-5200. We will tell you if your request was DENIED or APPROVED.

Please do NOT make a request to reserve the "whole" or "entire" building!

Tables and Chairs in the Gym

It will be your responsibility to come early and set up the tables and chairs. 
It will be your responsibility to put them away at the completion of the event.

Round tables (fold-in-half) have a diameter of 5.5 feet and can fit up to 8 chairs.

Large Rectangle tables (fold-in-half, fold) are 6 feet by 2.5 feet and can fit up to 8 chairs.

Extra Long Rectangle tables (fold) are 8 feet by 2.5 feet and can fit up to 10 chairs.

ILLEGAL ITEMS:     Items that cannot be brought to the Sanderson Center:

  • Political and religious signs and activities.
  • Open flames, flammable fluids, candles etc., with the exception of gelled alcohol food warming fuel.
  • Tobacco, including smokeless tobacco and vaping, alcohol, and illegal drugs.

TECHNOLOGY CHANGES:

Any changes with technology requests for all rooms
made less than 48 hours before your meeting/event will NOT be guaranteed.
All requests should be made by the POC only.

ICE: 

Please be aware that if ice is needed, you can purchase ice at the gas station or Walmart.

VIDEOPHONE BOOTHS:  

Sorenson Video Phone Booths are located in the Sanderson Center for public use.

PARKING:

If your event requires parking of more than 50 cars, contact our front desk at 801-657-5200.

The Sanderson Center does not provide accommodations for meetings/events such as interpreters, CART, etc. We are pleased to present links to Interpreter Agencies and CART providers for your convenience.

WiFi FOR VISITORS:

Step 1. Close ALL browsers (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, IE, etc.) on phone or laptop.
Step 2. Connect to the WiFi called “CapNet”.
Step 3. Open any browser.
Step 4. Type the link www.cnn.com and press Go or Enter key.
Step 5. When you see the webpage titled “Welcome to State of Utah Guest Wireless”, scroll to the bottom and click the “Accept” button.
You will be connected to the CapNet WiFi with wireless access to the Internet.


RAISED PLATFORM IN THE GYM:

We have 12 panels of 4 ft x 8 ft and two 3-step stairs.
Only 4 panels can be raised to a height of 8 inches.
Only 8 panels can be raised to a height of 16 inches.
All 12 panels can be raised to a height of 24 inches.

If you want us to set it up for you, please go to the "Additional Information About Your Request" section above and tell us the room name, number of panels, panel heights, stairs and where to place it in the room. Be specific!

MULTI-MEDIA PROJECTOR (MMP) IN THE GYM:

If you are going to use a laptop to connect to the large multi-media projector in the gym, please read the brief instructions below.

If you are using a HDMI cable,
  • connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI port marked "INPUT D".
  • use the projector remote control and press input D while facing the projector and standing close to it.


Or if you are using a VGA cable,
  • connect the VGA cable to the computer port marked "INPUT B".
  • use the projector remote control and press input B while facing the projector and standing close to it.
